The glass retaining U‑channel roll forming machine is designed to produce U‑shaped profiles used to hold glass panels in curtain walls, storefront glazing, windows, and glass balustrades. The channel grips the edge of the glass, often with a rubber gasket, providing a secure and aesthetically pleasing installation.

Why roll forming for glass channels?

Extruded aluminum channels are expensive; roll formed steel channels are stronger and more cost‑effective. They can be produced in long lengths for floor‑to‑ceiling curtain walls and have consistent inner dimensions to ensure uniform glass fit.

Production process:

Uncoiling – Motorized uncoiler (5‑10 tons), coil width 100‑200mm.
Straightening – Leveling rolls.
Punching – Creates weep holes (for water drainage) and anchor slots.
Roll forming – 10‑12 passes form the U‑channel. Rollers Cr12MoV, HRC58‑62.
Gasket groove forming (optional) – Rolls a small indent to hold a rubber gasket.
Cut‑off – Flying shear cuts to length (±0.5mm).
Stacking – Gentle stacker.
