Hollow Square Section Column Production Line for Structural & Furniture Applications

This roll forming line produces seam‑welded sealed square tubes used as structural columns for furniture (bunk bed legs, table frames), shelving uprights, and building frameworks. The machine forms flat steel strip into a square tube, continuously welds the seam using high‑frequency induction welding (HFIW), then sizes and cuts to length. Material thickness 0.8‑2.0mm, square sizes 20×20 to 100×100mm. Speeds up to 15 m/min, cut‑off tolerance ±0.5mm. Inline punching for bolt holes optional. Ideal for furniture manufacturers and steel structure fabricators needing strong, sealed hollow sections.

Sealed Square Tube Roll Forming Machine (Seam Welded)

– Strong, Lightweight Hollow Columns

The sealed square tube rolling forming system is a complete line for manufacturing square hollow sections (SHS) with a continuous welded seam. These sealed tubes are used as structural columns in furniture (bunk beds, desks, shelves), automotive components, building frameworks, and machinery frames. The welded seam is virtually invisible after painting or powder coating.

Why welded square tubes?

Seamless square tubes are expensive and have limited sizes. Roll formed welded tubes offer equivalent strength at lower cost, with unlimited length and custom wall thicknesses. The HFIW process produces a clean, strong weld without filler metal.

Production process:

  1. Uncoiling – Hydraulic uncoiler (5‑10 tons), coil width 100‑400mm.
  2. Straightening – Leveling rolls.
  3. Edge preparation – Slight beveling for weld penetration.
  4. Pre‑forming – 8‑10 passes form the flat strip into a square open seam tube.
  5. High‑frequency induction welding (HFIW) – The open edges are heated and forged together, creating a continuous solid‑state weld.
  6. Burr removal – Internal and external weld flash are scraped off.
  7. Sizing & straightening – Calibrating rolls ensure accurate outer dimensions (squareness, flatness).
  8. Optional punching – In‑line servo punch for bolt holes or slots.
  9. Cut‑off – Flying shear cuts to length (±0.5mm).
  10. Stacking – Automatic stacker.
